Hundreds protest Sean Bell verdict

Wednesday May 14, 2008

DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Two hours of controlled fury ended with hundreds of arrests Wednesday after Sean Bell supporters blocked bridge and tunnel entrances in a bid to shut the city down.

Led by the Rev. Al Sharpton, they massed outside 1 Police Plaza and five other key locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn to protest the acquittal of three cops who killed Bell in a 50-bullet barrage on his wedding day.

“You are unlawfully obstructing vehicular traffic,” Lt. John Wolf yelled through a bullhorn when Sharpton tried to lead a march across the Brooklyn Bridge. “I order you to leave the roadway now.”

Sharpton refused, dropped to his knees and started praying. Officers cuffed his hands behind his back and marched him to a waiting police van.

Police also arrested Bell’s fiancée, Nicole Paultre Bell, and the two survivors of the Bell shooting, Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman. They and more than 200 other protesters were charged with disorderly conduct.

Earlier, on the the upper East Side, about 100 protesters waded into traffic and made for the Queensboro Bridge.

“Get on your knees! Get on your knees!” an organizer yelled.

And they did before the police, who greatly outnumbered the protesters, could stop them.

“It has nothing to do with race or being anti-NYPD,” said demonstrator Antwan Minter, 31, of Harlem. “This is about basic human rights.”

Within minutes, the demonstrators were in handcuffs and the bridge was reopened.

“I’m going to jail for Sean Bell,” Dow Buford, 52, of Staten Island, said as he was led away. “I’m mad as hell.”

Protesters briefly blocked the entrances to the Midtown and Holland tunnels before police arrested the ringleaders and dispersed the others.

In East Harlem, about 90 people were arrested when they tried to block the entrance to the Triborough Bridge.

Sharpton promised the protests - aimed at pressuring the feds to try the Bell detectives on civil rights charges - would be peaceful.

Outside of a brief shoving match between City Councilman Charles Barron (D-Brooklyn) and cops, they largely were, police and protesters said.

Sharpton arrived at Police Headquarters, holding Paultre Bell’s hand, a little before 4 p.m. Also with them were Sean Bell’s parents, William and Valerie.

While the 500 or so demonstrators chanted, “No justice, no peace,” organizers went from protester to protester to take their names and find out whether they would be willing to get arrested. They found about 60 volunteers.

“That’s good,” said William Bell, who chose not to get arrested. “It’s all over the world. We really appreciate the love.”

About 50 cheering demonstrators were waiting at 1 Police Plaza when Sharpton, Paultre Bell and Sean’s buddies emerged more than four hours later.

Sharpton raised a fist in victory and declared, “The Sean Bell movement has been born.”

He said the demonstrations “dispelled the myth that people are not outraged and that they don’t want the Justice Department to investigate. A statement was made today, and we feel proud.”

Paultre Bell, who was arrested for the first time, said the experience left her a bit shaken, but “seeing all the support from everyone eased it a little bit.” In Brooklyn, a crowd of 200 protesters led by Barron and the Rev. Herbert Daughtry tried to march onto the Brooklyn Bridge from its side of the East River.

The crowd was diverted to the Manhattan Bridge, where traffic to and from the city was blocked briefly before cops cleared protesters away. There were 23 people arrested, including Barron and Daughtry.

In Washington, representatives of the Detectives’ Endowment Association met with staffers from the House Judiciary Committee and urged them not to press for federal charges against Detectives Marc Cooper, Michael Oliver and Gescard Isnora.

Gov. Paterson is expected to meet privately today with Sharpton and the Bell family.

Mysterygrimms Thoughts: I think the justice system really needs to take a good look at itself. How can 3 cops get off completely with no charges after shooting a black man, Sean bell, 51 times, cause the NYPD thought he was carrying a hammer? For some of my audience who may not know what that term means.. It’s a street term that in laymen terms means “Gun”.

Hip-Hop Recording Artist Remy Ma got sent to prison for 8 years for shooting her good friend over $3000 (Not a good look and her friend survived) but 3 cops shoot an innocent man, Sean Bell 51 times (Well they shot 51 rounds and kill him) and they get completely off? Zero time in jail, they get to keep their jobs, I can’t call this injustice spreading around. I just don’t get it.

Affiliate Marketing Part 1

Monday May 12, 2008

Yes folks!.. just like the title suggestions, I’m learning how to be a good affiliate marketer (Average one at best) to be quite honest. I want to do the usual, quit the day time job, spend more time with and support the misses, my daughter, go back to school, start a business, and launch my musical production career. Unfortunately like most (probably 96%) i’m not at that level yet. Right now i’m trying to learn everything I can about affiliate marketing (Hopefully i’ll cash in in the future).

It’s a pretty daunting task actually. You have to learn how to first choice a GOOD name for your website, a domain name (To have an online web presence), then choose a website host provider, then the CMS (Content Management System) you’ll go with providing you chose a good hosting solution that offers these CMS choices via Fantastico deluxe (A must have and added value with certain web hosts, make sure the web host you pick offer Fantastico!).

I’m currently with webuzzhosting and loving them. Back on topic. Your next decision is to choose whether or not you want a free open source CMS system like Joomla, Drupal, or Wordpress. Can anyone guess the CMS solution I chose?… No? Wordpress.. that was pretty obvious. They are rising to be the top provider in CMS websites to be honest. Joomla and Drupal are also great CMS solutions.

After picking a name for your website, domain name, and what CMS system you’ll use… You have to prepare and figure out what affiliate marketing companies you want to join, like Commission Junction or Click Bank (I’m still in this phase of the game to be quite honest). Bear with me though. I’ll update the world..errr..(Me at a later time).

Wednesday May 7, 2008

Ehh…. Slow Wednesday for at least me today. Got nothing on the mind or anything worth blogging about today folks. Sorry folks (Sorry for me only actually). Live life and be happy!

Wordpress Vs Blogger and other stuff?

Sunday Apr 20, 2008

Wow! I’m impressed… I’m actually starting to see comments hit my little part of the blogging world. I made a recent conversion from Googles Blogger to Wordpress. Now I can say i’m happy and proud to have done it. It’s been awhile since I blogged about things.

Well what I can say…..Is that i’m still in the process of creating my own site Mysterygrimms.com. I’m also still in the beginning stages of learning CSS 2, XHTML, and anything else worth knowing when trying to build visually stunning websites that everyone (well some) will like and appreciate.

I will be back soon to blog about the money reform act. Alot of things important in the world today are going on with and without our knowledge. I think it’s a vital time to reasearch current affairs, like the presidential race and debate currently going on (which will have a global impact on everyone), the current gas and food price nightmare (what a real nightmare I tell ya), among other things like, healthcare, jobs, education, going green, pollution (once again going green), your community, and anything else important to you and your loved ones.

Stay tuned, I have alot more in store. Also thank you to everyone taking some of their spare time to view my blog and even comment!

Shakira Threesome Sex Tape Is Real??

Tuesday Apr 8, 2008

“Alejandro Sanz, Shakira and boyfriend in sex tape scandal - AOL Latino Música
Miami, April 2nd, 2008.- A home-made tape could involve Spanish singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz, Colombian pop diva Shakira and her boyfriend, Antonio de la Rúa, in sexual intercourse together aboard a yacht owned by Sanz.” Click on title for link to this breaking story.. err rumor.

Mysterygrimms Thoughts:

It must be sextape month in April or something…I don’t get it. Or maybe I do and just felt like spreading this, soon to be real news like wildfire. It is all speculation right now. High-profile Colombian singer Shakira, was allegedly caught on tape having a threesome with her longterm boyfriend Antonio de la Rua and famed Latino singer Alejandro Sanz.

Unfortunately for Skakira and her alleged sexual cohorts, the sextape was stolen from Carlos González, his wife, Sylvia Alzate, and two of Sanz’ former employees, sources say.

They are being accused of stealing the home-made video and trying to blackmail the artist with its existence. Internet portal Infobae broke the news and now claims that the tape is currently in the custody of Colombian prosecutors. The police got a hold of this? Whewww…

I guess this is one of the spoils of being a celebrity in the 21st century. Anyways….those are my thoughts i’m going to hunt down this alledged tape…I MEAN will continue to follow up on any new updates. Grimms out.

Gentrification

Sunday Apr 6, 2008

Gentrification is a real problem in our communities…. and communities around the 50 states. It goes on in many impoverished neighborhoods, in urban cities and towns. Basically… it’s all the construction you seem to see, everywhere you go, where they convert projects and run down apartments into nice townhouses and condo’s.

It’s good for rich and comfortable middle class folks, and bad for poor folks, folks who mostly fall into the African American, Hispanic race category (The Minority). I found this interesting article or definition in detail on what Gentrification means and where the term was created from. Read the article or term below. Link is provided below as well (copy and paste works wonders).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentrification

Gentrification, or urban gentrification, is a phenomenon in which low-cost, physically deteriorated neighborhoods undergo physical renovation and an increase in property values, along with an influx of wealthier residents who may displace the prior residents”.

POMONA, Calif. - A thrift store worker in Southern California says she didn’t think twice about returning $30,000 she found in donated clothing.

Barbarita Nunez was sorting clothes on Tuesday at the Veterans Thrift Store when she found a small box. Inside was an envelope of cash. Nunez said at first she thought the money was fake. But just in case, she gave it to her supervisor.

The money turned out to belong to a woman who had recently died. It was returned to her family, who gave Nunez a cash reward.

Nunez said she will send some of the reward to Mexico so her mother can have an eye operation and will use the rest to buy a digital camera.”
